Cape Hatteras National Seashore lifeguard beach operations at Buxton Beach, adjacent to the Old Cape Hatteras Lighthouse site, closed Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 for the 2009 season. NPS lifeguard operations at Coquina Beach on Bodie Island and Ocracoke Beach on Ocracoke Island will continue through Labor Day, September 7th, 2009. The hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Fall visitors are reminded to check with local weather sources for updated surf and rip current conditions before going to the beach. Planning your visit to Cape Hatteras National Seashore will enhance your enjoyment and your safety. Please observe all rules and regulations for your safety.
