Homestead, Florida. Everglades National Park would like to recognize the importance of the South Florida Water Management District announcement today that work on the C-111 Spreader Canal project will begin. This project will help restore freshwater flows to Florida Bay, reduce seepage along the park boundary, and preserve clean water for Everglades National Park. "I would like to pass on our special thanks to the South Florida Water Management District governing board, management, and staff for all their hard work in awarding this contract for the first phase of the C-111 Spreader Canal Project. We are very happy to see this project begin as it represents a major step forward in Everglades restoration." said Park Superintendent Dan Kimball
