Public Scoping Meeting to be Held

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Oct. 21, 2009. It is reproduced in full below.

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area will be hosting a public scoping meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at park headquarters. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss an upcoming Environmental Assessment (EA) of new trail connections in three units of the park: Sope Creek, Johnson Ferry South, and Bowmans Island. The development of an Environmental Assessment is a means of ensuring the well-being of the land, and offers positive and negative impacts with various alternatives for the proposed work project. Through this public scoping meeting, you are invited to offer comments and suggestions relating to the initial project proposal, which will then guide park managers in the development of alternatives.
