2009 Artist-in-the-Parks Program

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Nov. 3, 2009. It is reproduced in full below.

The Community Artist-in-the-Parks program highlights the connection between artist and his/her inspiration. During the 2009 season, Chad Neihaus, an award-winning artist based in Moab, will be in the Southeast Utah Group National Parks (Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and Natural Bridges and Hovenweep National Monuments).

To discover how Chad turns inspiration into art, come visit him in the parks (see schedule below). Chat with him about an artist's inspiration, witness the creative process, and maybe purchase an original print that you saw him create. Times are posted in the visitor center and with the artist out in the park.

Chad Niehaus creates acrylic paintings, pastel drawings, and linocut prints inspired by the open spaces of the Colorado Plateau. His work has been featured in A Century of Sanctuary: The Art of Zion National Park, Painters of Utah's Canyons and Deserts, and on NPR's Radio West. More information is available on his website, www.MoabArt.com or by calling Niehaus' Moab studio at (435) 259-9314.
