On Saturday, January 30th at 2pm, join Brian Haggerty and Dr. Susan Mazer, from UC Santa Barbara, as they present ‘Planting the Seeds for Citizen Scientists’. This program shows how you can join other citizen scientists nationwide in observing the effects of climate change on plants and animals and providing that information to scientists. It’s simple, easy to do on your own, and something families, classrooms, or scout groups can do to track the effects of climate change on our local flora.
The lecture will be held at the National Park Service Visitor Center at 401 West Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. This is a free program. Visitors are encouraged to come early so they can look at the latest books on climate change and sustainability for sale in the Western National Parks Bookstore. The National Park Service Visitor Center is located at 401 West Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. From the Ventura Freeway (101), exit Lynn Road. Turn north on Lynn Road, right on Hillcrest Drive, and left on McCloud Ave. Turn into the first driveway on the right. Follow the road to parking area. Walk down the stairs or take elevator down to the Visitor Center. Signs will direct you to the lecture room.
