Film: China Blue
China Blue takes viewers inside a blue jeans factory in China, where teenage workers struggle to survive 18-hour days and harsh conditions. With perspectives from both the top and bottom of the factory’s hierarchy, the film looks at issues of globalization on a human level. What are the similarities between life in Lowell’s 19th-century mills and in industrializing China today? You’ll never look at a pair of blue jeans the same way again.

Concert: Experience the Life of a Mill Girl through Music
Travel back in time to re-visit the "Mill Girl" era through music. Park Ranger Alex Demas will present an array of music dedicated to women from long ago.
2:00 p.m.
Program: Common Threads-Two Women, Two Centuries
Two young women…Two centuries apart…Two different worlds. A "Mill Girl" and a college student face off in a debate. Will they find common ground? Whose side are you on?
2:30 p.m.
Program: Living History-Life in the 1850s New England Whaling Port
Join New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park living history interpreters Judy Roderiques and Lucy Bly as they transform into 1850s New Bedford women and discuss the issues of the day and life in the bustling whaling port. Listen in or converse with them to learn about a remarkable era.
3:30 p.m.
Tour: Mill Girls Walking Tour
Imagine the life of a Lowell Mill Girl. Ranger-guided tour begins at the Visitor Center and takes you on a short walk through town to the Boarding House where you will see where these women lived. The tour will then walk to the Boott Mills, where you will visit a working weave room and experience where the Mill Girls worked.
