The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 21, 2010. It is reproduced in full below.

Gateway National Recreation Area’s Canarsie Pier invites the Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy (UDEC) to showcase their Enviromedia Mobile, a traveling nature and maritime museum on wheels for the Memorial Day Weekend Celebration, Saturday, May 29, 12PM-5PM.

There will be public tours of the mobile museum, demonstrations of catch and release fishing, a live specimen touch tank, and an underwater video observation area. The event is a collaborative effort between the National Park Service and Bronx Community College, sponsored by the Office of Councilman Charles Baron and the Office Assemblywoman Inez Baron.

The UDEC is a not for profit educational and cultural organization committed to public education of coastal resources, such as oceans, marine wildlife, rivers, and the urban estuary. Their goal is to capture the public’s attention about the significance of the surrounding waterways and how as a community they can make a difference to protect the watershed.

Bring your family and friends to Canarsie Pier on May 29th for a fun and educational experience.
