Summary: Join Dr. Michael Nowak in this course to learn about the history and evolution of archaeology. Fee is $50. Teacher credit available. Registration required. Call 719-748-3253.

Details: This seminar on archaeology will focus on a historical perspective to archaeology: its birth, growth and evolution, a look at the kinds of archaeology with samples of projects, modern archaeology at work: theory, method and interpretation, and the politics of archaeology: its future and virtual archaeology. Field trips in the afternoon will go to local archaeological sites. More information on this and other summer seminars is available at www.nps.gov/flfo.

Directions: To reach Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, travel 35 miles west on Highway 24 from Colorado Springs. At the town of Florissant, turn left onto Teller County Road # 1 and travel 2 miles to the Visitor Center entrance.
