TEMPORARY REDUCTION IN SERVICES AT ECHO BAY JUNE 2-10
(Special note: This revision corrects information in the May 24, 2010 news release)
Echo Bay, NV. - From June 2-10, Echo Bay Marina on Lake Mead is scheduled to reconfigure its docks to adjust to lowering lake levels. The marina will be without services and the fuel dock and store will be closed throughout this period. Marina slip renters will still have access to their boats via shuttle boat, except for Monday, June 7, the day the docks are moved into deeper water.
All land based services including the hotel, restaurant, land fuel, RV park and long-term trailer village will not be affected by closures.
Visitors can contact Echo Bay Marina at (702) 394-4000.
Fluctuating lake levels have forced Lake Mead concessioners to periodically move and reconfigure their marinas. This year's moves will cost about $1.6 million. The National Park Service estimates it will cost an additional $10 million to extend launch ramps. Funding from entrance fees and the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act will be used to construct permanent ramp extensions in order to retain access to the lake.
