Huna Tlingit Gull Egg Harvest LEIS Record of Decision (ROD) Released

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Oct. 12, 2010. It is reproduced in full below.

The Record of Decision (ROD) describing the selected action in the Final Legislative Environmental Impact Statement for Harvest of Glaucous-Winged Gull Eggs by the Huna Tlingit in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is now available. The LEIS was completed in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the regulations of the Council on Environmental Quality. This ROD was shaped through this public process, including the comments provided by you. The NPS has selected Alternative 3 (two annual harvest visits to five locations). Implementation of the decision would be subject to promulgation of public law and regulation, revising 36 Code of Federal Regulations. Please watch for notices on further developments in this program.

You may request a copy of the ROD by contacting Allison Banks, Public Information Officer at the above address. You may also view and download the ROD by following this link.
