NPS Waives Wright Brothers NMEM Entrance Fee Veterans Day, November 11, 2010

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Nov. 3, 2010. It is reproduced in full below.

Superintendent Mike Murray announced today that in honor of current and former servicemen and women, Wright Brothers National Memorial will offer free admission to all park visitors on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010. Everyone is invited to take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy these treasured places. "The Department of Interior is honored to offer this fee free day and to extend our gratitude to all who have served in the U.S. armed forces and defended the people, freedoms, and resources of this country," said Superintendent Murray.

The 391 units of the National Park Service preserve and protect some of the country's most significant scenic and cultural places and hold something for everyone. In the parks, visitors can enjoy a holiday, often without making more than a short trip from one of the population centers many of us call home. To discover activities available in national parks, please consult the National Park Service's Events Calendar for 2010 at:

For information on visiting the Outer Banks Group parks, please visit the park's websites at www.nps.gov/caha or www.nps.gov/wrbr and www.nps.gov/fora, or by calling 252-473-2111.

Veterans Day is the last "fee free" day offered in the national parks in the 2010 calendar year.
