Holiday Season Interpretive Programs

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Dec. 14, 2010. It is reproduced in full below.

This holiday season is a perfect time to visit Florissant Fossil Beds with visiting friends and family. The Monument offers two; self guided interpretive trails as well as 14 miles of easy to moderate hiking trails. The visitor center has an exhibit of delicate insect and leaf fossils and a theater where one can view the orientation film. The bookstore is great for last minute gifts.

Florissant Fossil Beds will be offering ranger guided programs during the holiday season:

On Sunday, Dec. 26, and Sunday, Jan. 2, from 10AM - 12PM, Park Ranger Shawn Frizzell will lead a 2 - 3 mile hike in the Monument. Come prepared to have a good time, learn about the Monument, and be prepared for winter weather. The hike will start and end in the Monument's yurt where hot chocolate will be provided.

Please call (719) 748-3253 for further information and weather updates.
