In celebration of Earth Week and National Park Week, War in the Pacific National Historical Park will host a mini eco-festival and movie at Asan Beach Park on Saturday, April 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The War in the Pacific National Historical Park will show the award-winning film, Dirt! The Movie, which takes viewers inside the wonders of soil. It tells the story of Earth's most valuable and underappreciated source of fertility--from its miraculous beginning to its crippling degradation.
DIRT! the Movie--narrated by Jaime Lee Curtis--brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has. Issues brought up in the film are relevant to Pacific islands, as soil erosion has harmful effects on Guam’s coral reefs. To learn more about the film visit www.dirtthemovie.org.
Prior to the film, there will be student-led games and activities, display booths about the importance of preserving Guam’s soil, and handouts informing us of ways we can all play a part in improving the health of our island’s dirt. This event will also kick off the park’s first ever Junior Ranger Academy.
The public is invited to join us under the stars at Asan Beach on Saturday, April 16 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in this free event.
