Loop Road is Open!
The scenic 7-mile loop road at Craters of the Moon National Monument on Highway 20/26/93, 18 miles west of Arco, is now clear of snow and open to automobile traffic. Access to most campsites and trails remains difficult at the current time due to snow and ice. All caves are also closed due to hazardous snow conditions. Spring storms may temporarily close the road, so visitors are advised to check the website at: https://www.nps.gov/crmo or call for current conditions (208)527-1335.
National Park Week is April 16-24
Entrance to all 394 national parks is free during National Park Week (April 16-24).
This year's focus, Healthy Parks, Healthy People, highlights the connection between human and environmental health and the vital role America's national parks play in both. We invite you to hike the North Crater Flow Trail, ride your bike around the loop road or play in the snow. In addition to our featured film presentations, short talks are being offered by Rangers Friday-Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the visitor center. Special presentations are also being provided by our Ranger-in-the-classroom at local elementary schools. In addition, all kids are invited to become a Junior Ranger by completing the fun activities in the free booklet available at our visitor center.
