The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 9, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

LAS VEGAS - The National Park Service is inviting prospective bidders for the Lake Mead Cruises tour operation to attend a site visit on Weds., June 22. The contract prospectus for sightseeing boat tours on Lake Mead within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area will soon be advertised for open competitive bidding.

The visit will provide prospective bidders with an opportunity to become familiar with business operations so they may have a better understanding of contract requirements.

The Lake Mead Cruises concession contract, currently held by Lake Mead Ferry Service, Inc., includes operation of the motor vessel Desert Princess paddlewheel tour boat and the Lake Mead Cruises landing at Hemenway Harbor. The new concessionaire will provide sightseeing tours and related services in the Boulder Basin/Hoover Dam area of Lake Mead.

The current operator is retiring and will not be competing for the new contract. Those interested in attending should visit the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) web site at http://go.usa.gov/WiW.
