Park Superintendent to host public comment session

Chamizal National Memorial Superintendent Catherine Light has announced that she will host a public comment session regarding proposed projects for the memorial. This session will give the community and other friends of the park an opportunity to meet and interact directly with the park superintendent, be briefed on upcoming project proposals, and voice opinions or concerns.

Projects slated for discussion include the remodeling project for Los Paisanos Gallery. The project will provide additional office space to accommodate a new student program within the Administration/Interpretation/Gallery building at Chamizal National Memorial. The design does not include structural alterations to the building. The additional office space will be developed by repurposing one of the four bays within the existing gallery. This allows for retention of 75% of the gallery space for changing art exhibits, public meetings and general park training.

Public comment sessions are scheduled for July 27 at 5:30 p.m. The one-hour session will be held in the park's Paisanos Art Gallery. The public is encouraged to attend.

To learn more about and comment on projects proposed by National Park Service sites, including Chamizal National Memorial, the public is invited to visit the Public Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website at https://parkplanning.nps.gov.
