Candlelight Tours "Memories of Marion Sloan Russell"

Fort Union National Monument, National Park Service, announces their annual "Candlelight Tours" on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011. During this free evening event visitors will be guided through the fort, and, through a series of vignettes performed by costumed interpreters, will discover how Fort Union played a critical role throughout the life of one of the Southwest's most prominent women of the 19th century, Marion Sloan Russell. Each tour will run approximately 30-40 minutes. Tour times are 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 8:50 p.m., 9:10 p.m., 9:30 p.m., 9:50 p.m., and 10:10 p.m. Photography is allowed only during the 8:00 p.m. tour. Groups are limited in size to 15 visitors per tour time. Reservations are required. To reserve your spot on a tour, please contact the Monument. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and to bring a light jacket.
