LAS VEGAS - National Park Service rangers are currently searching for a missing Las Vegas man on Lake Mead. The man went missing late last night while swimming in a cove in the The Narrows.
Park rangers were notified at 9:19 p.m. and began a search of the area. The search last night was suspended after no one was found. The search is continuing today with rangers searching by boat and airplane.
The missing man is described as a 40 year old Hispanic male, 5' 3", 140 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, white and blue checkered shorts. He has a tattoo of a 1963 Chevy classic on his back. The man's name is not being released at this time.

The man and a friend were heading back to shore when they decided to checkout a cove that looked interesting in The Narrows. While the friend was driving the boat into the cove, he says that the missing man jumped into the water to swim. A few minutes later the boat driver said he heard the missing man scream he was drowning. He threw a rope to the man in the water but said that as soon as the rope hit the water, the man went under and didn't resurface.
The witness says that the man was intoxicated and not wearing a life jacket. Rangers do not suspect foul play.
