LAS VEGAS - The National Park Service is seeking public comment on its environmental assessment (EA) analyzing options for upgrading the waste water treatment systems at Callville Bay. The existing system collects and treats waste water from both park service and concession facilities.
Several new facilities have been added in the area since the current system was put in place, with others still planned. Facility upgrades are necessary to ensure the park can accommodate current and future demands while meeting all environmental regulatory standards. The EA evaluates the "No Action" alternative and four other action alternatives.
The EA is available for review on the NPS PEPC internet website at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/lake and at area libraries. A copy of the document can also be requested by calling (702) 293-8978. Comments may be submitted electronically via the PEPC website address. Written comments should be submitted to: Lake Mead NRA, Attention: Compliance Office, 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, NV 89005. Comments must be received by Thursday, Sept. 9, 2011.
