In accordance with the 2011 Superintendent's Compendium, Superintendent Debbie Bird has banned camp fires on the exposed lakebed until further notice. Recent periods of high fire danger have prompted this closure.
Camp fires continue to be permitted at all campgrounds and picnic areas where National Park Service fire receptacles are located.
