Navajo National Monument Autumn Schedule
Superintendent Alden Miller has announced the Autumn schedule for Navajo National Monument. "With autumn arriving soon, we will be changing our visitor center operations hours at Navajo National Monument to accommodate visitors. Navajo National Monument runs on Mountain Time, so please plan accordingly." The schedule is as follow:
Visitor Center operation hours:
8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, September 12-30, 2011
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, Oct. 1, 2011 to Memorial Day Weekend 2012
Betatakin Tours:
One tour at 10:00 a.m. daily, September 12-30, 2011
One tour at 10:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1, 2011 to snow fall
Betatakin Tours require no reservation, limited to 20 visitors, first come first basis. Visitors may sign up the day before or the morning of the tour at the visitor center desk. The guided tour to Betatakin Cliff Dwellings, via Tsegi Point, is 5-mile roundtrip hike on steep trail. The hike is moderately strenuous and may take between 4-5 hours to complete. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes, carry water, and take outer clothing appropriate for weather conditions. Please note that inclement weather may necessitate cancellation of tours.
