Buffalo Point Campground Closure

Buffalo Point Campground Closure

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 6, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

The Buffalo Point Campground will be closed from noon on Sunday, September 11th, until noon on Monday, September 19th, 2011 for road resurfacing. This includes all walk-in tent sites, non-reservable and reservable pull-in sites. The parking area near the swimming beach will be open. Originally scheduled for the height of the visitation season, the project was rescheduled in an effort to minimize impacts on family vacations. There is never a "perfect" time and we understand that this project will thwart some visitor's plans. The cost of the resurfacing is being paid by the Federal Highway Commission and we are maximizing the opportunity to repair our degraded road network. Your understanding is appreciated as we strive to keep your National Park safe and enjoyable. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact the Buffalo Point Ranger Station at 870-449-4311 or Park Headquarters at 870-365-2700.
