Junior Ranger Day

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 15, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

Chamizal National Memorial will celebrate National Junior Ranger Day and Earth Day on Saturday, April 21st. Children of all ages and their families are invited to participate in a day of fun and learning sponsored by the National Park Service. Area youth will have the opportunity to enjoy free programs and activities. These include the Memorial's new water table, a puppet show, games, crafts, special face painting, being sworn in as official Junior Rangers, and even learning how to make a small piñata that could be featured as part of the next exhibit in our Los Paisanos Gallery. In addition, Chami, the Spotted Ground Squirrel will also make a special appearance to share in the fun. Junior Ranger Day activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This event is free for everyone so come visit Chamizal National Memorial and "explore, learn, protect" your national parks and your planet.

Also on Saturday, there will be a free cancer awareness fair from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a Beatles Tribute Concert, "Sgt. Pepper's Wondrous Wigorium." Tickets for the concert can be purchased by calling 915-317-2087.

We hope you'll join us for a fun-filled day followed by an evening of music. For questions or more information, please contact the park at 915-532-7273 or visit our website at www.nps.gov/cham.
