The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 30, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

Bushkill, PA: Superintendent John J. Donahue announced today that beginning May

1, 2013, park rangers at Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will begin issuing

violation notices to drivers who turn onto Community Drive from either the northbound or

southbound lanes of U.S. Route 209. A traffic safety study published in 2009 recommended

several countermeasures to reduce serious motor vehicle crashes throughout the park. One recommendation was to reduce conflict points by installing warning signs and prohibiting turns from major roads onto secondary roads at several locations, including the intersection of U.S. 209 and Community Drive. Signs prohibiting turns from U.S. Route 209 onto Community Drive were installed near that intersection in late February. Since that time, rangers have been conducting a two month period of education during which violators received verbal warnings. Starting tomorrow, tickets will be issued to drivers who violate the new traffic regulations.
