Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore - On Tuesday, May 22, the National Park Service will hold a joint news conference to announce a partnership with the newly formed Dunes National Park Association. The event will be at the national lakeshore's Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk, at 10:00 a.m. Members of the Dunes National Park Association Board of Directors will be in attendance.
The Dunes National Park Association is a new organization formed by private citizens to support the mission and goals of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Throughout the United States, such organizations support more than 150 national parks. Support organizations can increase community awareness of the park, organize fund raising campaigns, serve as advocates for park programs, or seek volunteers to assist park staff.
