Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP Announces Temporary Closing of Birthplace Picnic Pavilion

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 19, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

Hodgenville - The picnic pavilion at the Birthplace Unit of Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park has been closed to public use until further notice. This closure includes the pavilion as well as the grills located next to it. The closure does not affect the restroom, parking, or the rest of the picnic area.

The closure is due to structural issues found by park staff. The park staff will be conducting a closer examination of the pavilion structure to determine its condition and evaluate possible solutions.

While the pavilion is closed the picnic tables that were inside of it will be relocated within the picnic area.
