CONSTRUCTION BEGINS AT BOULDER BEACH CAMPGROUND
LAS VEGAS - Construction is scheduled to begin during the week of August 20 on major renovations at Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Boulder Beach Campground. This project involves construction of new concrete RV pads, restroom buildings, and related campsite facilities. While existing trees will remain in place, all other non-native shrubs will be removed and replaced with native plants selected to provide shade, privacy, and windbreak. Construction is scheduled to end in late February, 2013.
This project will improve visitor facilities at Boulder Beach Campground by providing campsite facilities that can accommodate modern RVs. New restroom facilities will be constructed to allow access by all visitors, including those with disabilities. New native vegetation and an upgraded automatic irrigation system will help to conserve water.
Funding for this $2,635,164 project has been provided through the sale of federal lands in southern Nevada authorized by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act. The contractor is E-Corp from Las Vegas.
