Stories in the Stars Evening Program at Petrified Forest National Park

Petrified Forest, AZ―To celebrate the autumnal equinox, discover the 'dark side' of Petrified Forest National Park! Join a ranger guided experience that allows visitors a special, after hours opportunity to enjoy spectacular dark park skies.

What: Stories in the Stars Evening Program

When: Sept. 22, 2012, starts at 6:15 pm

Where: Painted Desert Visitor Center (located off Interstate 40, exit #311)

How long: approximately 1 ½ hours

The program will start with watching sunset together, followed by stories about the stars and guided stargazing.

The park closes at 7 pm, but as part of this special program you will be allowed to stay inside park boundaries while the program is occurring.

Bring a flashlight and warm clothing. Recommended items: a chair, a telescope, binoculars, and/or any other astronomical equipment.

The program may be cancelled due to weather (cloudiness, rain, lightning etc.). Don't miss this rare opportunity to experience Petrified Forest National Park after dark!
