The National Park Service, along with volunteers, is in the process of re-routing eroded sections of the Proctor Ridge horse trail in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. During this process, the trail will need to be closed while the work is being performed. This project will improve water quality, ensure better protection to a variety of species that live in the areas streams, and also improve visitor safety.
Beginning Sept. 13, 2012, the Proctor Ridge horse trail that goes from the Darrow Ridge multiple use trail along Proctor Ridge trail to the boundary of Big South Fork NRRA will be closed to public travel from Thursday, Sept. 13, through Friday, October 5, 2012.
