Interim Superintendent Darren Bryant arrives

DARREN E. BRYANT TO SERVE AS ACTING SUPERINTENDENT OF

LAKE MEREDITH NATIONAL RECREATION AREA AND

ALIBATES FLINT QUARRIES NATIONAL MONUMENT

Fritch, TX - Deputy Regional Director Colin Campbell has announced that Darren E. Bryant has been selected for a 120-day detail as the acting superintendent of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument in Fritch, Texas. Bryant is currently the Chief of Facility Management at Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and will report to his new assignment on October 7.

"We are delighted to have Darren come to Lake Meredith," said Rose Pollard, Acting Superintendent of Lake Meredith NRA and Alibates Flint Quarries NM. "He has had a long career with the National Park Service, and we know he will be a great asset to this park and to the neighboring community. We look forward to working with Darren."

Bryant, a 24 ½ -year National Park Service veteran, began his career at Carlsbad Caverns National Park before moving to Guadalupe Mountains National Park, where he has been Chief of Facility Management for the past 6 years. He has also worked throughout the Park Service performing historic preservation with the Preservation and Skills Training Program. In addition, Bryant is very active in assisting the Inter-Mountain Region in performing operations evaluations and reviewing projects, and he has been a member of the Inter-Mountain Maintenance Advisory Committee since 2009.

Bryant was born and reared in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where he currently lives with his wife Christina and two children, Megan and Chase. Megan recently graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in Graphic Design, and Chase is currently in his first year at Eastern New Mexico University studying Environmental Science.

There will be a "Meet and Greet" on Thursday, October 11 from 10:00-2:00 at Lake Meredith NRA Headquarters, 419 E. Broadway, Fritch, Texas. The public is invited to come and welcome our acting superintendent to the local area.
