Visitor Center Temporarily Closed

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Dec. 26, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

Winter has arrived in full swing at Lassen Volcanic National Park. The recent storms have

blanketed Lassen with a significant amount of snow which led to the temporary closure of the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. "Our road crew is diligently clearing away the snow and we hope to have the Visitor Center reopened by this weekend." announced Park Superintendent Darlene M. Koontz. Please contact the park before making your travel plans as road conditions can change frequently and the Visitor Center may be closed for short time periods during

lingering snowstorms.

Visitors traveling to the park should be prepared for winter weather and driving conditions. Carry tire chains in your vehicle along with extra food, water, and blankets.

For the latest information regarding ranger-led snowshoe walks, weather and road conditions visit the park website at www.nps.gov/lavo, follow LassenNPS on Twitter or Facebook, or call Park Headquarters at (530) 595-6102, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
