Photo Walk with a Ranger to Crystal Forest

Petrified Forest, AZ-1:00pm Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 a free ranger program will offer another unique way to experience the park with a photo walk for beginning and intermediate photographers.

Join volunteer ranger and experienced photographer Leandra Melgreen Lewis for a walk to discover photo opportunities in the great outdoor classroom of the Petrified Forest National Park.

Meet at the Rainbow Forest Museum at 1:00pm. This walk through Crystal Forest offers jewel like quartz crystals hidden in petrified trees with some the texture of living bark. Photo techniques will be discussed with suggested exercises to open up new visual opportunities for point and shoot and digital SLR photographers.

Come prepared! Exposure to elements may include mud, ice, cold weather and the sun, wear appropriate layered clothing and footwear, and bring sunscreen, food and water. Bring camera manuals, tripods and cable release.

Photo Walks will be held on Saturday, February 23 and March 2, 2013. Locations will include trips to Crystal Forest and Long Logs all near the Rainbow Forest Museum. Photo walk locations are subject to change based on weather conditions. Some walks are not on trails, with possible muddy conditions. All walks are easy to moderate. Walks range from one to three miles.
