JUNIOR RANGER DAY AT LAKE MEAD, APRIL 27

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The seventh annual Junior Ranger Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Boulder Beach picnic area.

Dozens of kids from around the area will be sworn in as Junior Park Rangers after exploring a variety of stations that teach them what it takes to work for the National Park Service.

Before earning their badges, kids will have the opportunity to operate a fire hose, explore law enforcement vehicles, touch live reptiles, learn about water safety, play in the dirt, discover artifacts and more.

K-9 demonstrations will take place at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Kids will also get to meet Smokey Bear, Mojave Max, Coastie the talking robot boat, the City of Henderson's Rad Tad and Charlotte, this year's Junior Bark Ranger.

The event is open to the public, and park entrance fees will be waived for those attending the event.
