The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 10, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

Monocacy National Battlefield will host a "Junior Ranger Weekend" on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, for kids of all ages. Costumed living history volunteers will present interactive and hands-on programs at various locations throughout the park. A scavenger hunt will lead visitors through the battlefield where they can learn about soldiers being mustered into service, participate in a camp of instruction, see demonstrations of medical practices, and learn about the soldier's life on campaign. Participants will receive the name of a soldier who was active at Monocacy Junction in 1863, and learn what happened to him during the Civil War. Children will receive a Junior Ranger Day Patch or Pin. Adults will receive a Explorer Ranger Pin.

The programs are free to the public and begin at the visitor center located at 5201 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704.
