The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 22, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

BUSHKILL, PA: Superintendent John J. Donahue announced today that work will begin next week on U. S. Route 209 through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Work will consist of pavement patching, crack sealing, and a slurry seal application between mile markers 17 and 21, at the north end of the park. A slurry seal is a pavement preservation treatment consisting of fine aggregates and asphalt that seals and extends the life of the pavement. The project also includes improved lane markings with reflective centerline markers and centerline rumble strips. Motorists should expect lane closures and some traffic delays during the project which should be completed within 2 weeks.
