Fayetteville, West Virginia,Aug. 1, 2013-American Electric Power (AEP) will be upgrading the main transmission line serving Fayetteville and the surrounding communities fromAugust 7-11, weather permitting. The transmission line crosses the river near the Cunard River Access and the Brooklyn Miner's Trail. The Cunard River Access will remain open, however equipment needed for these repairs may cause congestion and delays in the Cunard parking area. Additionally, AEP will be accessing the transmission line by vehicle via the Brooklyn Miner's Trail. Access to the trail may be limited and brief closures may occur for visitor safety during the project period. Stay alert while driving and hiking in the area, and follow posted warnings.

Park staff will work with AEP to minimize congestion and delays for both commercial and private visitors. Check out the park's trail newspaper at https://www.nps.gov/neri/planyourvisit/hiking.htmfor alternative hiking and boater access locations in the park.
