50th Anniversary Program of "I Have a Dream" at the New York Peace Monument

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to participate in commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's "I Have A Dream" speech at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28th at the New York Peace Monument in Point Park on Lookout Mountain. Park staff will be joined by the fourth grade class from Orchard Knob Elementary School in reading portions of the speech. Bells will ring-out at 3:00 p.m., joining a bell ringing ceremony that will take place across the Nation.

Lookout Mountain was one of eight places across the country that was specifically named in Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's historic speech. Special Events will also be conducted on August 28th at Martin Luther King Junior National Historic Site in Atlanta, Georgia and the National Mall in Washington D.C.
