HARKERS ISLAND, NC - Cape Lookout National Seashore is pleased to announce formal launch of self-guided cell phone tours of the Seashore, hosted by OnCell Systems. Each set of stops offers the chance to take a guided tour with a park ranger at your own pace and before or after the open hours of the park visitor centers, museums, and historic site exhibits. Smart phones can access additional photos and additional information through the mobile tour website. Wooden posts mark the site of tour stops. Each marker includes the stop number, tour phone number, and a smart phone QR code for that stop.

One of the tours offered is the Cape Lookout Light Station Tour (Stop 501 to Stop 511). This tour explores the rich history and natural beauty of this iconic landmark.

The tour starts alongside the boardwalk at the Light Station Visitor Center and winds its way to the Keepers’ Quarters Museum and the jewel of the Crystal Coast, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Uncover the story behind the first Cape Lookout Light and discover some of the wildflowers that bring a splash of color to these barrier islands.
