National Park Advisory Commission Meeting to be Held September 19 - 2013

National Park Advisory Commission Meeting to be Held September 19

The next meeting of the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park Advisory Commission will be held on Thursday Sept. 19, 2013 at the Strasburg Town Hall, 174 East King Street, Strasburg, Virginia. The meeting will begin at 8:30 am and is open to the public.

The September meeting will include discussion on a wide variety of subjects related to the ongoing development of the park through the implementation of the park's General Management Plan and Key Partner related topics.

Individuals who are interested in the park, the implementation of the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP General Management Plan,or the business of the Advisory Commission are encouraged to attend the Sept. 19, 2013 meeting. About Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park: Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park preserves and interprets key historical sites and events related to the history of the Shenandoah Valley, from its early settlement through the Civil War and beyond. The park will also serve as the focal point of the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District, a National Heritage Area.

Created on Dec. 19, 2002, the park encompasses approximately 3,700 acres across three counties and is managed by the National Park Service in partnership with Belle Grove,Inc; Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation; National Trust for Historic Preservation; Shenandoah County and the Shenandoah Valley Battlefield Foundation. Individual partner sites are owned and operated independently.
