A doctor and a park ranger will lead a 45 minute walk around the Oasis of Mara on Friday, December 6, at 10 am. The benefits of exercise will be emphasized and participants will also learn about the history of the area.
Joshua Tree National Park, in partnership with Hi-Desert Medical Center, is reaching out to local residents and park visitors to promote healthy lifestyles. Hiking, walking, biking, and rock climbing are just a few of the many ways to get outside and enjoy nature, while also increasing your energy and stamina. With over 270 miles of trails for hiking and paved roads for biking, opportunities for exercise abound in the park.
The half-mile Oasis of Mara Nature Trail is located behind the Oasis Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms and is paved. Participants in this "Doctor/Ranger Walk" are advised to wear sturdy walking shoes and carry some water to stay hydrated
