Artists Seeking Sunrise

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 11, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

Artists now have an opportunity to capture the magical light of early morning at Tumacácori during two special days this season. "The church and surrounding mission grounds are a perennial favorite for artists," said Superintendent Bob Love. "We are excited to welcome painters and photographers for these special early openings."

On Thursday, February 6th at 7:00 a.m. and Wednesday, March 5th at 6:30 a.m., Tumacácori National Historical Park will open early for anyone wishing to experience sunrise over the mission. Artists and other visitors should observe all park regulations and policies. Commercial filming or photography may require a special use permit. See https://www.nps.gov/tuma/planyourvisit/permits.htm for more information.

Admission to the park is $3.00 per adult, free for federal pass holders and children under age 16. For more information, call 520-398-2341, extension 0.
