SEARCH CONTINUES FOR 2 MISSING BOATERS
BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The search for two missing Las Vegas men continues at Lake Mead Feb. 22.
Three men were reported missing Feb. 20 by a family member after they didn’t call in for the night during a multi-day boating trip. Their capsized 1977 Glastron boat was located the following morning.
One of the missing men was located a half mile north of the vessel. He was pronounced dead by the Clark County Medical Examiner at 5 p.m. Feb. 21. His identity has not been released.
Officials will conduct a land, sea and air search Saturday. The search team will consist of four National Park Service vessels with rangers and side scan sonar, one Nevada Department of Wildlife vessel, Metro Air and Civil Air Patrol. Around 40 Red Rock Search and Rescue volunteers will comb around seven miles of land on both sides of the shore.
Video opportunities will be available at Echo Bay, which is about 90 minutes from Las Vegas. Christie Vanover, the public affairs officer, will be available for interviews at 10 a.m.
Because this is an active search with multiple agencies, media interested in covering the search by land, sea or air need to coordinate with Vanover by calling 702-283-2344.
