Kimbler Search and Rescue Update Tuesday Morning

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 29, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

National Park Service Rangers made voice contact with JR Kimbler and his two children early this morning approximately 2 miles off trail in Congaree National Park. Rangers have visually located the family and are working with SAR teams to safely rescue them from their off trail location.

The park will provide more information as the rescue operation develops.
