Due to the generous snowpack in the upper Gunnison Basin this past winter, the water management scenario for the Aspinall Unit and Curecanti National Recreation Area (Blue Mesa, Morrow Point, Crystal Reservoirs) and the Gunnison River downstream will not be compatible with offering the Morrow Point Boat Tour through the month of June.
In lieu of being able to offer tours on Morrow Point Reservoir, the National Park Service will be offering tours on Blue Mesa Reservoir from June 1st through the 22nd. The Blue Mesa Boat Tour will depart from the Elk Creek Marina at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. daily, except Tuesdays. Reservations are required for the tour and can be made by calling the Elk Creek Visitor Center. The tour will run from the Elk Creek Marina west toward Cebolla basin, past the historic Cebolla townsite, and up the Cebolla arm of Blue Mesa Reservoir. The tours will be an hour and a half long and will take place on the Curecanta II, a 40-foot, 42-passenger pontoon boat.
There will be no tours offered between June 23rd and July 1st while the tour boat is moved from Blue Mesa Reservoir to Morrow Point Reservoir. Tours are expected to resume on Morrow Point Reservoir on July 2, if conditions allow.
