This morning, Tuesday, June 10, park rangers were notified that a 24-year-old man from Fort Collins was overdue from the Longs Peak area in Rocky Mountain National Park. The man had left at approximately 2:00 am on Monday morning, June 9, from Fort Collins. He was expected at work at 4:00 p.m. yesterday. An investigation revealed he likely planned to travel along the Keyhole Route.
Rangers searched the area and located the man's body at approximately 3:30 p.m. His body was found approximately 1,000 feet below the Keyhole Route down the Trough.
Weather prevented recovery efforts this afternoon and evening. These operations will resume when weather and conditions allow. His name will be released after next of kin have been notified.
