The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 24, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

Florissant Fossil Beds, Colorado Springs' closest national park unit, is offering a variety of new ranger guided programs for the public for the summer of 2014.

Yoga Hikes

Join Ranger Denise Ackart for 1.5 hour long yoga hikes every Wednesday and Saturday morning through August at 9:00AM. Meet at the visitor center. Bring water, comfortable clothes, and shoes with flexible soles. For more information: https://www.nps.gov/flfo/parknews/yoga-hikes.htm

Astronomy Programs

Join Ranger Leo Sack and see the night sky the way it used to look before city lights crowded out the stars. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument offers an ideal balance between convenient location - an easy drive from Colorado Springs- and a sky dark enough to reveal the countless stars that once lit the night for our ancestors.

Friday, Aug. 22, 2104 - 8:00PM - 10:00PM
