Bluff Trail Re-opens on Lookout Mountain

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 3, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia: Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is advising a portion of the Bluff Trail that was closed on Feb. 10, 2014 is now open for public use. The park in partnership with Wild Trails developed a project to repair a washout of the trail that formed approximately ¾ of mile north of Sunset Rock. Volunteers from Wild Trails provided labor and materials to help repair the trail. The project took longer than expected due to inclement weather hindering scheduled work days. The park looks forward to working with and continuing to have a partnership with Wild Trails in the future.

The Bluff Trail is located on the west side of Lookout Mountain, and traverses the mountain side north and south starting near Point Park at the intersection of Cravens House trail and Mountain Beautiful trail and ending at the Ochs Gateway trail junction.
