Cardiac Fatality In Rocky Mountain National Park

This afternoon, park rangers were notified of a cardiac emergency on Trail Ridge Road, ½ mile west of Forest Canyon Overlook at roughly 11,800 feet, at a vehicle pull-out area. The incident was not related to lightning.

Park rangers reached the 67-year-old woman and began advanced medical care but the woman remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. Rangers were assisted by an ambulance from Estes Park Medical Center. The woman was with family members.

The woman's name and hometown will not be released until further next of kin are notified.
