Request for Proposals A Limited Commercial Use Authorization to Operate Interpretive Boat Tours

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Aug. 24, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

Superintendent Barbara Goodman is pleased to announce a business opportunity to operate a new interpretive boat tour that will transport visitors from the point of origin at Jim King Park and Boat Ramp at Sisters Creek Marina, to Kingsley Plantation and Fort Caroline. Earlier this year a prospectus was issued for exclusive use of the Preserve's boat docks. Feedback indicated a pilot project would be more successful. We are taking this opportunity to allow potential business partners to show how they could make this a remarkable undertaking by allowing for a one year authorization for a single, 25 passenger boat with a more flexible schedule. The tour will serve the dual purposes of filling the intra-park transportation gap created by the large bodies of water that separate the sites on land-based routes and provide visitors with an intimate experience with the waterways and wetland ecology that are integral to the environment of the Preserve.

In addition to interpretive boat tours, the permit holder may sell limited food (light snacks) and beverage items, merchandise (t-shirts, hats, incidentals, etc.) and sundries (insect repellant, sunscreen, etc.) The merchandise and sundry items will be sold in the Sisters Creek ticket office and the limited food and beverage will be sold aboard the tour boats. The Superintendent must approve in advance all limited food and beverage, merchandise, and sundries to be offered for sale by the Concessioner.

Proposals are requested to be submitted by Sept. 19, 2014
