SAVANNAH - There are ten more reasons to enjoy Fort Pulaski National Monument! The park will offer ten days of free admission in 2015.
The 2015 entrance fee-free days are:
• January 19: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
• February 8: Super Museum Sunday
• February 14-16: Presidents Day weekend
• April 18-19: National Park Week’s opening weekend
• August 25: National Park Service’s 99th birthday
• September 26: National Public Lands Day
• November 11: Veterans Day
“Fee free days are a great way for the first time visitor to the Savannah area to discover Fort Pulaski and what it has to offer the American public," commented Superintendent Melissa Memory. “These special days also give our local community a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with the wonderful cultural and natural resources available on Cockspur Island."
Fort Pulaski National Monument is Savannah’s National Park. The fort, one of the nation’s best preserved nineteenth century coastal forts, was the site of a significant artillery battle during the American Civil War. The park offers breathtaking architecture, stellar panoramic views, and miles of trails to explore. Once here, feel free to experience a ranger led fort tour, catch a cannon firing, or enjoy the island at your own pace. There’s something for the entire family to enjoy!
